Use This Quick Method To Help Resolve Tantrums, Pent Up Energy, Impatience, Sibling Rivalry, & More!
Does your toddler get tantrums, pick on siblings, have a hard time waiting, get too excited or restless about simple things, or act in any other extreme ways to any kind of situation? Whether your kid's strong emotions are happy, sad, mad, or anything in between, this quick and fun activity acts fast to help them gain control themselves.
Most methods out there call for the parent to gain control. We believe the child needs to keep their own power and learn to use it properly. This helps them to keep their Chi (inner power) balanced and even can help strengthen it.
Release Is Key
When emotions are so strong that the child no longer reacts to them properly, these feelings need to be released. This should be done in a way that doesn't take away their control but also doesn't harm themselves or others.
Use The Quick Technique I Call The "Ha Factor"
I came up with a fun way that helps kids release their pent up emotions, but stays in line with both my Upstream Parenting F.L.O.W. strategy, as well as helps kids keep their natural Chi. Around here, we encourage kids to keep all of their power and are merely here as their gentle guides.
So, what is the Ha Factor?
That's it. Unlike yoga poses that need to be done in a very specific way, here it is important to give the child freedom on how they stand, how many times they would like to repeat the action, as well as what they do immediately after.
In the video below, watch my currently 4 year old (at the time of this writing) daughter Nova Skye use the Ha Factor in her own way. This was non-scripted. I simply asked her to use the method. Notice the immediate display of release when she hops away happily directly after. She also had freedom of choice in her outfit and whether she was interested in doing the activity. Giving your child the control is key to this technique, as well as to keeping their inner Chi intact.
What do you think of the Ha Factor? Have you tried this with your child? We would love to hear your feedback in the comment section.
One of the most common issues parents of kids aged 0-5 ask me about is sleep. Kids under five have a lot going on, so it often translates into their sleep cycles. If your baby, toddler, or preschooler takes forever to fall asleep, tosses and turns, has nightmares, or gets up in the middle of the night, you need to keep reading.
Do Relaxing Yoga Two Hours Before Bedtime
Timing is important to ensuring this works to your child’s benefit. Night time exercise should be low impact and be no closer than an hour or two before bedtime. I’ve found doing a 10 or 20 minute yoga routine two hours before bedtime is what works for my own baby, toddler, and preschooler. The poses chosen should be ones that don’t require high energy, as those will instead keep them awake.
So here, you want to choose simple relaxing stretches, like half-sun salutation, child’s pose, legs up the wall, downward facing dog, puppy pose, cross-legged forward fold, and savasana. We like to end with savasana and spend a little extra time here, since it is relaxing.
Meditate To Yoga Singing Bowls And Binaural Beats
This is the step where my kids always go to sleep fast. Yoga singing bowls and binaural beats have a way of speaking to the brain for various purposes. We like to use Spotify to create our playlists so that we can play the music in whatever order we need. We choose binaural beats that are covered with yoga singing bowls, thunderstorms, and other healing music.
These can be chosen for very specific purposes, such as anxiety and sleep. I choose which ones to play for the kids based on what they need that night. If there isn’t a specific need, I choose general sleep and healing beats. Then, the kids get settled and lay down to meditate. Some children may need a thought to focus on for meditation.
They may fall asleep during meditation. That’s normal and okay. It’s actually what you want. Babies and younger kids may not participate in meditation in the same way as kids who can understand the concept, but playing the music will relax them into natural meditation and eventually sleep.
Keep The Music Going As They Sleep
I keep our healing playlists going as the kids sleep and it helps keep them asleep longer and helps with healthy, refreshing sleep. Once the meditation part is over, sometimes I switch to beats with other purposes that they may need focus on. I’ve found that if the music is played throughout the time period they need to sleep, most nights they will stay asleep the entire time. My kids who used to have nightmares started having them less often and so far, now have had none as long as we do this bedtime routine.
If you have kids in the baby, toddler, or preschooler age range, you might want to try this simple nightly routine for better sleep. Sleep is necessary for proper focus, reducing stress and anxiety, and better overall mental and physical health.

Namaste! Welcome to Early Risers Pre-K Yoga! If your preschoolers need better focus, better self-discipline, calming techniques, or even just something to do, you're in the right place. Myself and my kids are here to help!
Why Pre-K Yoga?
Kids under 5 naturally have an abundance of energy. But most of them don't know where to put it. That can end up backfiring when they don't get their way or at bedtime when they should be winding down. Learning our special pre-k specific yoga techniques and practicing them on a regular basis can help them to utilize this energy in a more positive manner. It is our mission to help as many young souls as possible to claim and focus their own energy in a fun, productive, and efficient way. There will be articles, guides, instructional videos, tip videos, class videos, and more! We will also have a clothing line, among other related merchandise in our yoga store, for those interested.
Who Is Our Staff?
My name is Lyn Lomasi and I'm a mother of 7 beautiful starseed souls. I've been a healer since birth and a Shaman on God's mission to heal souls by helping them discover and create their own futures. I've been doing yoga myself for many years, the owner of a large network of sites, an expert parenting writer with content all over the web, and have a published book on my Upstream Parenting method, among several other books. I developed the techniques featured here when I decided to integrate yoga with my other parenting techniques for my three starseed children who are under 5 (the older kids have other interests), as they are very high energy. I was so pleased with the results that I wanted to share our family's techniques with other parents and kids. Since I'm a natural healer and love helping people, now you can help your kids too, using my techniques and tips.
Kymani Lyrique is my 3 year old daughter. She is at the beginning stages of pre-k yoga, as this is being written. She's the one who will help other beginners feel comfortable.
Even as she progresses in her lessons, helping beginners feel comfortable is her intended specialty, unless she changes her interests.
Mekai Indigo is my youngest starseed, at just 1 year old. He is also a beginner and will be the best example for those who would like to do yoga with newborns up to age 2.
This is the age range where parents will need to be the most hands-on, posing the child until they can do so themselves.
Our family looks forward to working with yours, providing fun and effective classes and tips. Some topics will include yoga, meditation, breathing techniques, energy control and release, chakra alignment, mood and emotion understanding and control, positive body understanding and control, and more.
